Alex Wakely would be to replace Stephen Peters as captain of relegated Northamptonshire next season.
Wakely, who led Northants into a surprise success in last summer’s NatWest Twenty20 contest, has been unavailable throughout the 2014 campaign after suffering an Achilles injury in preseason.
