Headingley and Old Trafford to host 2019 Ashes matches

The England and Wales Cricket Board has chosen Headingley and Old Trafford as hosts for the 2019 Ashes Test Series ahead of Trent Bridge and Cardiff.


Lord’s, The Oval and Edgbaston will host the other three Ashes contests with Nottingham and the Welsh capital both missing out after being named as venues for the visit of Australia in 2015.

Steven Mullaney agrees new deal at Nottinghamshire until end of 2017 season

Nottinghamshire allrounder Steven Mullaney has agreed a contract extension that will keep him at Trent Bridge before the close of the 2017 season.


The 28-year old helped Notts win the 2010 County Championship title following his move from Lancashire and he was named the county’s player of the year in 2013.

Chris Read signs new contract with Nottinghamshire

Chris Read has signed a fresh contract with Nottinghamshire, prolonging his stay at Trent Bridge until 2016.


The 36-year old wicketkeeper made 54 catches behind the stumps last season and says he needs continue in the club after enjoying a fruitful year.

Sussex sign pace bowler Ajmal Shahzad from Nottinghamshire

Sussex have signed former England bowler Ajmal Shahzad from Nottinghamshire on a three-year deal.


The 29-year old ex-Yorkshire and Lancashire seamer was given an early release from his Trent Bridge contract and joins left-armer Tymal Mills from Essex on the comings list at Hove.

LV= County Championship: Greg Smith makes the move from Leicestershire to Nottinghamshire

Nottinghamshire have strengthened their batting options with the signing of Greg Smith from Leicestershire.


The 25-year old opener has moved to Trent Bridge on a two-year deal and his arrival will help fill the void left by the departure of Phil Jaques, who has returned to Australia to become assistant coach of New South Wales Blues.

County Cricket: Yorkshire trainer Jason Gillespie deflects praise after directing White Rose to title

Yorkshire first team trainer Jason Gillespie commended the approach and work ethic of his players as soon as they finished a 13-year delay for County Championship glory having a crucial innings victory over Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.


Gillespie charges wasted little time taking the five wickets needed to wrap up the title, taking only 66 minutes to secure a 31st outright title for the White Rose county.

LV= County Championship: Yorkshire pressure Nottinghamshire to follow on at Trent Bridge

Yorkshire will go to the last day of the fixture against Nottinghamshire wanting only five more wickets to clinch the Division One title in the LV= County Championship.


The White Rose county pushed their hosts to follow on at Trent Bridge after bowling them out for 203 first time around, Jack Brooks taking four wickets with Ryan Sidebottom and Adil Rashid sharing another six.

LV= County Championship: Yorkshire leave Nottinghamshire in trouble at Trent Bridge




Yorkshire took a major step towards claiming the LV= County Championship title, reducing Nottinghamshire to 58-4 by the end of day two in reply to 532-9.


The White Rose county – who know victory at Trent Bridge will secure the crown for the first time since 2001 – had finally declared their first innings when Tim Bresnan fell agonisingly short of a first century in seven years, the all-rounder caught at mid-wicket for 95.

County Championship: Adam Lyth century leads Yorkshire title charge against Nottinghamshire

Adam Lyth scored his sixth hundred of the season as Yorkshire took a giant stride towards securing the LV= County Championship title on day one of their penultimate match against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.


The visitors chargred to a score of 319-4 on the first day of their Division One match against trophy rivals Nottinghamshire, with Whitby-born Lyth – fresh from scoring 251 against Lancashire last week – furthering his claim for a place in England’s Test side.
