Pakistan get to work on Mohammad Hafeez activity ahead of World Cup deadline

Pakistan will start restorative work on Mohammad Hafeez’s bowling action promptly after it had been deemed illegal by the International Cricket Council.


The off-spinner was reported within a Test match against New Zealand last month, and following evaluations in England found his activity violated the ICC’s limitations on elbow extension.

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammed Hafeez"s action to be tested in England

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez will fly to England for tests on his suspect bowling action.


The 34-year-old was reported for his action during his country’s first Test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi last week, which Pakistan won by 248 runs, with Hafeez taking 2-81 in the match.

Mohammad Hafeez could miss the second Test against New Zealand with a hamstring injury.


The Pakistan batsman, who scored an unbeaten hundred in his side’s first-Test win, will be assessed before the start of play in Dubai on Monday.

Michael Atherton critical of Kevin Pietersen"s "bitter" autobiography

Former England captain Michael Atherton says he doubts the veracity of some of the claims in Kevin Pietersen’s book and believes it is a ‘bitter settling of scores’.


Pietersen told Sky Sports News HQ on Tuesday evening he stood by everything in his autobiography, in which he is highly critical of several former England teammates and former team director Andy Flower for their attitude and behaviour during the 5-0 Ashes whitewash last winter.

Graeme Swann dismisses Kevin Pietersen"s book as "work of fiction"

Former England teammate Graeme Swann has slammed Kevin Pietersen’s new autobiography, labelling it the “the biggest work of fiction since Jules Verne”.


Speaking at an awards ceremony at Lord’s, Swann denied accusations by Pietersen that he was part of a clique of bowlers who perpetuated a “bullying culture” in the England dressing room.

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez out of Australia limited-overs series

Pakistan have suffered a blow ahead of their limited-overs series with Australia after all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez was ruled out through injury.


The 33-year-old split webbing on his left hand during fielding in a practice match in Sharjah on Friday that has forced him to withdraw from the squad.
